Rules and Regulations for Visiting the Kosciuszko Museum and Entering the Kosciuszko Mound in Krakow
Section 1 General provisions
The Rules and Regulations for Visiting the Kosciuszko Museum and Entering the Kosciuszko Mound in Krakow (“Rules and Regulations”) define the rules for visiting the permanent exhibition, temporary exhibitions and the area of the Kosciuszko Mound (“Kosciuszko Museum”) conducted by the Association – Kosciuszko Mound Committee in Krakow, with its registered office in Krakow, al. Waszyngtona 1, 30-204 Krakow, entered in the Register of Associations, KRS 0000282877, NIP 6761004552, REGON 12050634700000 (“Mound Committee”) and for entering into agreements on the provision of visiting services by the Kosciuszko Museum.
Section 2 Visiting the Kosciuszko Museum and Mount Kosciuszko
1. Kosciuszko Mound in Krakow is a Monument of History, a cultural monument and a place of national remembrance.
2. Visitors to the Kosciuszko Museum (“visitors”) are required to comply with the Rules and Regulations.
3. Staying on the premises of the Kosciuszko Museum and Kosciuszko Mound is at the visitors’ own risk. Visitors are required to exercise extreme caution when ascending the Mound and to adapt to the prevailing weather conditions.
4. The Kosciuszko Museum can be visited individually or in groups accompanied by a guide.
5. Only walking tours of Kosciuszko Mound are permitted, except for people with disabilities.
6. It is prohibited to walk outside the designated paths, in particular on the slopes of Kosciuszko Mound.
7. Entry to the Kosciuszko Museum is prohibited to persons who, as a result of the use of any stimulants or drugs, have impaired sensibility and reduced mobility.
8. Visiting the Kosciuszko Museum by children under the age of 13 is possible only when accompanied by a person with parental authority, a legal guardian or another adult. Children under 7 years of age should be supervised by adults at all times.
9. Guides and tour leaders are obliged to enforce the Rules and Regulations on groups under their supervision.
10. The Kosciuszko Museum is protected and monitored with electronic security systems.
11. The Kosciuszko Museum may refuse entry to, or interrupt visits by, visitors who violate the Rules and Regulations.
Section 3 Opening days and hours of the Kosciuszko Museum and the Kosciuszko Mound
1. The Kosciuszko Museum is open to the public during moving hours throughout the year. The current opening and closing times of the Mound and Kosciuszko Museum are available on the website: www.kopieckosciuszki.pl.
2. The entrance to the Kosciuszko Museum is at the same time the entrance to the Kosciuszko Mound.
3. The last visitors are allowed in the Kosciuszko Museum and on the Kosciuszko Mound no later than 40 minutes after the ticket office closes.
4. In justified cases, the Kosciuszko Mound Committee reserves the right to change tour dates, temporarily exclude part of the exhibitions from the tour and interrupt the services provided.
Section 4 Entrance tickets
1. Prior to entering the Kosciuszko Museum, an entrance ticket must be purchased according to the price list of visiting fees. The current price list can be found at the Kosciuszko Museum ticket office and on the website: http://www.kopieckosciuszki.pl/pl/dla-turystow/cennik
2. One ticket entitles the visitor to a single entry to the Kosciuszko Museum and to the Kosciuszko Mound.
3. Purchased tickets are non-refundable and only valid on the day of purchase.
4. Free admission to the Kosciuszko Museum applies on the following days:
a. 4 February – Tadeusz Kosciuszko’s birthday,
b. 24 March – the day of Tadeusz Kosciuszko’s oath on the Main Square in Krakow and the outbreak of the Kosciuszko Insurrection in 1794,
c. 15 October – day of Tadeusz Kosciuszko’s death
d. and on other days as determined by the Kosciuszko Mound Committee.
5. By purchasing a ticket, the visitor accepts the Rules and Regulations.
6. The Kosciuszko Museum ticket office accepts payments in zloty (Polish zloty) and accepts payment cards. Information on the types of cards supported is available at the Kosciuszko Museum ticket office.
7. The need for an invoice documenting the purchase of a ticket must be requested before the ticket is purchased.
8. The rules for the sale of reduced fare tickets and the issue of free admission cards are set out in Appendix 1 to the Rules and Regulations.
Section 5 Visiting order
1. Visitors enter the Kosciuszko Museum and the Kosciuszko Mound according to opening hours.
2. Visitors are required to submit to inspection by means of electronic scanning devices, if permanently installed, or by hand-held devices operated by Kosciuszko Museum staff.
3. Animals are not allowed into the Kosciuszko Museum and onto Kosciuszko Mound, with the exception of a guide or assistance dog (service dog).
4. It is prohibited to carry the following into the Kosciuszko Museum and onto the Kosciuszko Mound:
a) weapons, ammunition, direct coercive agents, explosives, flammable, toxic, corrosive and other materials that Museum staff consider potentially dangerous,
b) alcohol, psychoactive substances and narcotics.
5. The following are prohibited: littering, damaging greenery and flower beds and making noise, smoking tobacco products and electronic cigarettes, consuming alcohol, eating while visiting exhibitions, using open flames and making telephone calls while visiting exhibitions.
6. It is prohibited to run on the area of the Kosciuszko Mound and to go beyond the railings of the viewing platform of the Kosciuszko Mound.
7. It is prohibited to leave luggage unattended.
8. The exhibitions should be visited according to the current tour direction and order. It is prohibited to cross the designated visiting areas.
9. When visiting the exhibitions, it is prohibited to enter the stagecraft construction, according to the accompanying signs.
10. After the tour, it is not possible to return to the exhibitions without a valid entrance ticket.
11. The taking of photographs and filming for commercial purposes and the use of drones on the site is prohibited and requires the prior consent of the Mound Committee.
12. Entry to the Kosciuszko Museum and the Kosciuszko Mound is prohibited to persons who are intoxicated or who behave in a way that could endanger the safety of the collections, disturb the order of the tour or violate generally accepted norms of behaviour in public places.
13. While visiting, please follow the comments and recommendations of the Museum staff.
Section 6 Use of the playground
1. The children’s playground is an area for play and recreation.
2. The playground is designed for children over 3 years of age.
3. Children in the playground must only stay under the supervision of a guardian.
4. Adults are required to maintain order.
5. Playground equipment should be used for its intended purpose.
6. Any damage must be reported immediately to a member of the Kosciuszko Museum staff.
7. Only one child at a time is allowed to use the following equipment: large slide, small slide, climbing wall with tube, trapeze, rope ladder, chain interlacing, wooden ladder at the small tower, rope.
8. During playground activities it is prohibited to have items that can be a danger during play and exercise, e.g.: rings; earrings, ornaments around the neck, wrists, ankles, items in pockets, chewing gum and others.
9. It is prohibited to climb onto the roof of the high tower, to overhang and to walk over the rails. It is prohibited to climb on structural elements of objects, bridge railings, the tunnel at the small tower, or to jump from the bridge.
10. Bonfires and the use of flammable materials that could cause a fire are prohibited in the playground area.
11. Bicycles and scooters, as well as team games (e.g. football) are prohibited in the playground area.
12. It is prohibited to bring animals into the playground.
13. Guardians should ensure that children do not crowd around equipment or push each other.
14. Children under 7 years of age should be supervised by their parents or guardians at all times when using the playground.
Section 7 Personal data
1. The controller of the personal data is the Kosciuszko Mound Committee in Krakow with its registered office at al. Waszyngtona 1, 30-204 Krakow, info@kopieckosciuszki.pl, tel.: 012 425-11-16.
2. Personal data will be processed on the basis of:
a. Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR, i.e. because the processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject – consisting in a duty to issue an invoice with the content specified by the applicable legislation – in order to issue an invoice at the request of the visitor – with regard to the usual categories of personal data including: full name, address, tax identification number (NIP) or statistical identification number (PESEL);
b. Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, i.e. on the grounds that the processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the controller, consisting in the protection of persons and property on the premises of the Kosciuszko Museum – in order to protect persons present on the premises of the Kosciuszko Museum [PL: Muzeum Kościuszkowskiego imienia Muzeum Kościuszkowskiego] against burglary, theft or destruction – with regard to the usual categories of personal data including: the image of the visitor recorded by the cameras of the monitoring system.
3. The provision of personal data for the purpose of invoicing is a legal requirement, but the visitor is not obliged to provide such data; the consequence of failing to provide personal data will be that no invoice can be issued.
4. Recipients of personal data:
a. with regard to personal data processed for the purpose of issuing an invoice, these will be entities providing IT, accounting, postal and courier services to the controller, as well as the relevant state authorities
b. with regard to personal data covering the visitor’s image recorded by the cameras of the monitoring system, these will be entities providing property and personal security services to the controller and entities providing maintenance and repair services for the monitoring system.
5. The image record is a legally protected element and has a direct impact on the security of the Kosciuszko Museum and Kosciuszko Mound. Accordingly, the visitor does not have the right of access to the content of his/her data and the right to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, the right to data portability, the right to object, the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of consent before its withdrawal – within the limits of the law. In other respects, the visitor has the right to request from the controller access to his/her personal data, the rectification, erasure or restriction of processing, the right to object to the processing, and the right to data portability in the cases specified in the applicable legislation.
6. The visitor has the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority if he/she considers that the processing of personal data violates the provisions of the GDPR.
7. The data you provide will not be subject to profiling.
8. Personal data will be processed by automated means – surveillance cameras record images continuously, after 30 days the record is automatically and permanently deleted by overwriting the next image.
9. Personal data will not be transferred to a third country, i.e. outside the European Economic Area, or to an international organisation.
Section 8 Final provisions

2. The purchase of a ticket is tantamount to acceptance of the Rules and Regulations.
3. Other matters not covered by these Rules and Regulations are governed by applicable law.
4. In the event that a state of emergency is declared in Poland, guided by the statutory obligation to safeguard and conserve the museum collections and to ensure maximum protection for employees and visitors to the Kosciuszko Museum, the Mound Committee may introduce special regulations regarding the number of people on the premises of the Kosciuszko Museum and the Kosciuszko Mound and the manner of movement and rules of behaviour, in accordance with the applicable regulations.
5. The Rules and Regulations are effective from 1 March 2025.
APPENDIX 1 TO THE RULES AND REGULATIONS – RULES FOR THE PURCHASE OF GROUP, REDUCED FARE AND FAMILY TICKETS
1. The following persons are entitled to purchase a reduced fare ticket:
a) primary school pupils, secondary school pupils, students (up to the age of 26), doctoral students,
b) pensioners, as well as disabled people with their carers,
c) teachers of primary and secondary schools, teachers of educational establishments and care institutions, correctional institutions, juvenile detention centres and diagnostic and counselling centres,
d) natural persons decorated with the badge “Za opiekę nad zabytkami” (For the care of monuments), the badge of honour “Zasłużony działacz kultury” (Meritorious cultural activist), the badge of honour “Zasłużony dla Kultury Polskiej” (Meritorious for Polish Culture) or the honorary title “Zasłużony dla Kultury Narodowej” (Meritorious for National Culture).
2. The following persons are entitled to purchase a family ticket: one or two adults (carers) and school-age children, up to a maximum of 6 persons.
3. The following persons are entitled to purchase a group ticket: a group of more than 10 persons, which consists of primary school pupils, secondary school pupils, students and organised tourist groups with a guide/carer.
4. Documents proving entitlement to a discount on the Museum entrance fee are:
a) school and student cards,
b) pensioner cards,
c) ID cards documenting a disability or degree of disability,
d) service cards for the following: teachers of primary schools, secondary schools, art schools, teachers of educational establishments and care institutions, correctional institutions, juvenile detention centres and diagnostic and counselling centres.
5. The following persons are entitled to receive a free ticket:
a) veterans and disadvantaged veterans,
b) individuals awarded the Order of the White Eagle, the Order of War Virtuti Militari, the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, the Medal for “Merit to Culture Gloria Artis”,
c) employees of museums included in the National Register of Museums,
d) members of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) or the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS),
e) holders of the Card of the Pole, as referred to in the Act of 7 September 2007 on the Card of the Pole (consolidated text Journal of Laws 2023, item 192),
f) children under 5 years of age,
g) chaperones for a group of students (1 chaperone per 10 students),
h) guide who guides the group and holds a valid identity card.
